My wife and I have lived here for many years untill we moved away this year. We have good memories of the Buffalo BBQ.And of the town folks. It was a good place to raise a family, and my father told me many good stories of the town and it people. Glad to see a web sight so people dont forget the past and where we came from.

I lived in Stanwood all my life, until about two months ago. My dad, Gordy Riebow, still lives in town. My grandparents lived in Stanwood as well and owned a gas station where Stanwood Pizza is currently located. I remember doing a report on the town back in seventh grade and found that it was very interesting. I enjoyed reading the information on the site to learn more about the history.

I lived in Stanwood my whole life as well as my whole family. I can remember walking into the hospital in town when I was a kid. My grandparents John and Lorraine Walma owned a well drilling business here and my grandfather died in the Stanwood Hospital...the history of my background is a very interesting thing for me. Keep up the great work!!!

It was really interesting looking at all the old photos and reading about our history. I was born in the Stanwood Hospital in 1968 and lived in the area most of my life. My grandpa talks about the history sometimes and its nice to have pictures to go with his stories like the ones with the tall tall snow!!

I use to stay at Brower Park in the summers all through the ‘70s and ‘80s. I would hitchhike up from Battle Creek when I was younger, and later drive up in my old Chevy. My buddies and I always made a pit stop at the party store on the curve (Hillside?) before heading into the campground. I remember buying an Audiovox FM cassette player for my car one summer there. The funny thing is a kid hanging around the store wired it in my dash for $10 bucks. He did a good job and it ended up being the only thing that ever worked in that car.

My Mom & Dad (Bun & Ruth) bought the Mobil/Convenience store on the curve at north end of town in 1953, sold it to a Mr Redman I think within two years. Later bought farm property just north of school from Crandles, least they were living there when Dad bought it. I always enjoy seeing Stanwood when in MI.

Great job on the website, I always liked stanwood and used to be a vendor to the stores there, I also keep up on the history in the area (especially the railroads) and find it very interesting. Maybe I missed it but I remember when the hospital used to be there and the building is still here, maybe you could profile some of that for the 1900's history too when you get time. Thanks

I am so glad that Stanwood has finally put up some pictures of its heritage. So people like myself that have lived in this town for so many years can finally know a little more about it. Especially when my dad has lived in these parts for so many years himself. It would be a good way to show all his grandkids. Thanks
