to my diabolical "Solar Intensifier" web page. Powered by the
Sun, nothing can survive its intense output of focused energy.
The Solar Intensifier started out as a discarded fresnel lens pulled out of an old Mitsubishi projection TV. Roughly 42 inches in width, it intensely focuses the Suns rays, causing household items to burst into flames. I made the frame that holds the lens to be fully adjustable. The unit is so efficient at focusing the Sun that folks have to wear welding goggles or risk damaging their eyesight. Below are some photographs of some items that I fried with the unit. Nothing other than the Sun's energy was used to make each item burn. I have recorded temperatures reaching over 600 degrees Fahrenheit at its focal point.
